:: What is Contact Work? ::
Introduction
Contact work is any process that facilitates the exploration of contact between humans and other species - whether they be dolphin, whale, extraterrestrial, interdimensional, or nonphysical consciousness. Since the 1980s, Lyssa and her teams have gone out into the field and explored the issue of contact in real time. Humans no longer need to ask, "Are ETs real?" Instead, the most pressing question is, "How do we make contact?"
As chronicled in Lyssa's book Preparing for Contact, the very first step has to be an understanding of the nature of human consciousness, especially what happens to it as it confronts an unknown, nonhuman consciousness. This is the core of Lyssa's research -- blending psychology, metaphysics, quantum theory, channeling, and hands-on field research.
In the early 1990s, Lyssa was trained by CSETI (the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence, founded by Dr. Steven Greer) and then organized a group of researchers who worked together in Phoenix, Arizona to answer the most pressing questions about contact. Their protocols were first inspired by the standard CSETI methodologies and then went even further by working with methodologies Lyssa received through the channeling process. Since the early 1990s, Lyssa's teams have conducted fieldwork and experienced profound contacts with other life forms.
The Phoenix contact research group operated from 1994 through 1997. Lyssa has also worked with teams all over the world. Much of her work is chronicled in the 2nd edition of her book Preparing for Contact (released in 2011), which contains much new material. Her book The Golden Lake (released in 2019) also discusses the subject of contact. Here is a summary of some of our research:

The Purpose
Our contact groups are devoted to exploring and understanding (as well as experiencing) contact with extraterrestrial intelligences who may not adhere to our laws of reality. Because of this, we use various experimental protocols using light, sound, and thought to reach out to nonhuman intelligences. If we as a species do nothing to begin forming a peaceful and non-militaristic relationship with visitors from the stars, then it is possible others in our society may lead the way using violence, manipulation, and fear, which would affect our relationships with these intelligences infinitely into the future.
We encourage groups around the world to take the initiative in contact and send a message of species unity (as well as human self-responsibility and empowerment) to our cosmic visitors. Our methods are controversial to those who revere the traditional, linear, and limited research modalities. However, they achieve results. We seek not to prove, but to experience. With this having been said, our findings and field experiences are not meant to challenge "accepted" modes of research, but instead to expand the boundaries of thought and consciousness so that the human potential can be celebrated as well as be used as a tool for further exploration. There is plenty of room for a myriad of research modalities. Together, we will find answers. However those answers will not come if we expend energy attempting to invalidate the research of another.
Ultimately, the purpose of our research is to begin the process of developing intergalactic relationships with the non-human species visiting Earth or who may visit Earth in the future. We intend to plant the seeds of friendship so we may work together and learn from each other. Another side purpose is that through our endeavors at contact, we learn about the human consciousness and the human species in a way that benefits all of humanity.

History - the 1990s
The original Phoenix, Arizona CSETI working group was founded in January 1994 by coordinator Lyssa Royal Holt and trainer Wayne Peterson. At its height of activity, we had a pool of about 18 people from which we usually had about 5-8 members during a given field event.
Because Lyssa conducts her own independent research into extraterrestrial contact and has written several books on the subject (most notably the book Preparing for Contact), the Phoenix Team has incorporated many independent research protocols based on Lyssa's work that is inspired by her channeled material. Though CSETI supported these independent research protocols and encouraged Lyssa's research, they are not officially endorsed by CSETI or any of its offices.
During the 3 years that the Phoenix team was operating, they were fortunate to conduct research in both Northern and Southern Arizona as well as outside of Phoenix, in Mexico, California, and New Mexico. Many of their field reports documenting anomalous events have now been consolidated and highlights of the data appear in the revised version of the book Preparing for Contact, including those of a series of repeating CE-5s ('close encounters of the 5th kind') which occurred in 1994 up to the present day.
Because the Phoenix team used experimental protocols based on Lyssa's research, we have developed an additional vocabulary used to discuss various aspects of our research. This vocabulary is used in addition to some standard CSETI vocabulary and is outlined below. (Some of this is used in the book Preparing for Contact).
Brain Wave States/Theta, Delta, Alpha, Beta - We have found that an understanding of brain wave states is essential to contact work, because contact is influenced by the human brain wave states. Beta is the waking state we call "conscious"; Alpha is the light meditative state or daydream state; Delta is the sleep state; and Theta is the deep meditative, hypnologic state in which most of our contacts occur. The experiences we have in theta most often do not carry over into beta, and thus contact memories are very difficult to obtain without intense training. Theta contacts are as "real" as beta ones, however the ego does not validate them.
The Common Ground - This term is used to refer to the place at which human and extraterrestrial intelligence can meet. It is a metaphorical "place" that incorporates qualities from both the human and ETI realities, which requires a shift in consciousness for both parties, and thus a mutual cooperative effort.
The Contact Medium - This term relates to the inherent energy of a contact experience, the "soup" if you will, in which the contact takes place. It is the result that is achieved when the team and the ETI move to the Common Ground. Together they create the Contact Medium.
Contact Team - We have been made aware that there is a specific group of extraterrestrial intelligences who guide our "training" as ambassadors when we are out in the field. The main being calls herself "Sasha" and is the primary intelligence channeled by Lyssa Royal Holt in her research and published books. Sasha orchestrates an "ET contact team" -- a group of extraterrestrial intelligences working with her to reach out to the Earth contact team (the working group). The presence of these beings has been validated time and time again through various specific and exceptional events.
The Ego, or the King/Queen - In contact research, the ego is the part of the human consciousness that censors or reinterprets anomalous experiences into mundane or everyday translations. The ego/king/queen has the responsibility of making sense of phenomena that would usually be categorized as anomalous. For instance, when we inexplicably "forget" or trivialize an anomalous event, it is due to the interference of the ego, who must maintain the status quo of reality at all costs. The ego is also responsible for convincing the self that spacecraft are really strange-looking airplanes, extraterrestrials are really owls, and so forth. The ego is most often the initiator of Signature Behavior (see below) which is an attempt to distract the person away from anomalous phenomena and thus the breakdown of accepted reality paradigms.
Fibonacci Sequence - The Fibonacci sequence is a mathematical series of progressive numbers beginning at a fixed point. The sequence is as follows: 0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21.... In the 1990s, Sasha has strongly suggested the use of the Fibonacci sequence in contact protocol, stating that the use of it not only alters the human consciousness, but it also produces a direct, universal communication to ETI. The Fibonacci sequence is used so far in light signaling, repetitive movements, and sound/music. The Fibonacci sequence can be considered 'training wheels' that can lead to utilizing the frequency of phi, or the golden mean - which is a universal language recognized by all intelligent life forms.
Red-Green-Blue Exercise - See Thought-Emotion-Intent Exercise, below.
Sasha - Sasha (who claims to be a female from the Pleiades) is the primary extraterrestrial intelligence (channeled by Lyssa) with whom the Phoenix Team works. Sasha has guided the team since the first event, outlining events to come in the contact research (which were validated). She has also given the team valuable information on the nature of consciousness and contact, contact methodologies, and the future of contact research. Sasha is the coordinator of the extraterrestrial contact team with whom the Phoenix Team is linked.
Signature Behavior - We have found that when a team (or an individual) is engaged in a contact experience, the ego begins to display a (set of) consistent behavior(s) unique to each person. Part of our aim is to help team members identify their unique signature behaviors, which ultimately helps the individual understand (through looking at cues in their unusual behavior) when a contact experience is imminent. Since contact experiences are often vague and subtle, behavioral cues are invaluable in understanding the approach of the contact experience. This allows the individual or team to remain "conscious" of the contact, hopefully helping us bridge the gap between the contact reality and what we consider to be our daily, waking reality. Examples of signature behaviors include: giddiness, spaciness, sleepiness, nausea, hyperactivity, extreme mental focus, mental confusion, and more. Team members have permission to point out to other team members when they begin engaging in signature behavior which serves as a way to keep the team bonded and conscious of the contact experience.
Thought-Emotion-Intent (T-E-I) Exercise - This technique was given by Sasha in early 1994 and directly resulted in the group's first CE-5 experience. (See field report for 4/16/94). It is based on the use of colored gels over the high-powered lights in the shades of red, green, and blue. These colors (along with white light) are flashed in a specific sequence (based on three sets of three) and affect the three aspects of the human needing to be addressed when dealing with a contact experience: Thoughts (blue), Emotions (green), and Intents (red). Sasha claims these three aspects must be integrated for a full contact experience to occur and be remembered and integrated into the Whole being.

Common Questions with Lyssa
In 2010, just before Lyssa facilitated a live contact work web cast in which over 1000 people participated from 21 countries, she answered the following question ...
Isn't this kind of work silly or trivial?
Lyssa: I would be the first to admit that this concept can be really hokey if looked at only on a superficial level. (And we contact researchers must have a sense of humor in this field and not take ourselves too seriously sometimes!) If we look at only the surface idea of "calling ETs" via a webcast for example, the idea seems ridiculous. And surely, many people will only look at it on this level. But when we realize that there are deeper, more profound levels to this idea, it is a wonder that it hasn't been done before now.
I ask you to think about these ideas and the ramifications of contact work with the following...
1. As we increase our telescopic power and our ability to watch the universe from the comfort of our planet, the time will come (if it hasn't already!) when it will be obvious that we are not alone. Shouldn't we be ready for this realization as a planet?
2. As we continue to reach out to space, especially with Mars missions and other far-reaching projects on the horizon, we become a space-faring species. Other space-faring species notice. It is prudent and wise to begin forming relationships with other space-faring species well before we leave the confines of our Earth.
3. Do we really wish our planetary contact programs to be run by Earth's governments, given their propensity for violence, polarity and politics? Doesn't it make more sense to initiate contact ourselves-as diverse representatives of the human species, without a hidden agenda?
4. The by-product of this kind of work (unifying like minds and hearts) can have amazing results that aren't even connected to ET contact. What if, through this unified energy, we can help clean up an oil spill or soothe tensions in war-torn countries?
5. Looking at this idea from the point of view of a hypothetical "cosmic anthropologist" who is very concerned about the ethics of opening contact with a planet about to enter the galactic community, it might be an essential requirement that we first invite them on some kind of mass level. This event may be considered one of those vital invitations that gets the contact ball rolling, so to speak.
6. If the worst-case scenario is that no one hears us (or no one responds). Is that really so bad? It has already been proven many times over that human minds joined in like thought and energy can affect reality in profound ways. It would be erroneous to assume that only the effects that we visibly see are the ones that matter.
Historical researchers and pioneers have been laughed at for hundreds of years, until their knowledge became accepted reality. Those pioneers became the architects of a paradigm shift. In order to bring this about, we have to be ok with looking a little bit silly. Along the way, we can have some fun, too!

Current Day (the 2020s)
Since 2014, Lyssa has been offering a yearly contact retreat in both Arizona and Japan (near Mt. Fuji). These regular events have allowed her to work with the same groups repeatedly, and build what she calls a "contact field" that is growing more cohesive as each year passes. In 2021 her Arizona group had some profound experiences, including the filming of a ship at close range that was not visible to the eye. (Click Here to view the report). In 2017 in Japan, a participant took a photo of an ET being right next to Lyssa (again, invisible to the eye). Click Here to view the 2017 report. Our experiences continue to evolve and each year we look forward to what the next lesson will bring!
Contact Work and Retreats Available from Lyssa
Yearly in Japan - Until the pandemic, this retreat was held near Mt. Fuji during the month of July. We hope to offer them again in the future. This retreat is short, however. It is a weekend with only one night of contact work.
Yearly in Arizona - This retreat has become so popular and fills every year with the same students. Therefore, for now, it is primarily a private event with advanced students. It includes 3-4 nights of outdoor contact work.
Contact Workshops on Zoom - We are now offering contact seminars via Zoom, so our friends from around the world may participant from the comfort of their homes. Please see our Schedule to find out when the next one is available.
